August 9, 2026 Development Update
We spent the day polishing the feel of the world and tightening up a handful of core systems.
Visual polish – The lingering “darkness” bug from the recent Beautify update is gone. A missing exposure value was crushing mid‑tones, so scenes now look balanced from shadows to highlights. Your character’s eyes now react to light: stepping into a bright outdoor area will dazzle you for a moment before the view steadies, while interior spaces start dim and gradually brighten over a few seconds. Night Vision has been restored to its original soft‑green wash, and it no longer disables depth of field or edge smoothing. Overhead nameplates, health bars and icons are visible again thanks to a fix that keeps the depth data in memory, ending the “invisible UI” issue from the chaos build.
Gameplay tweaks – The long‑awaited Distract skill finally works for all casters: up to five nearby creatures will rush to the targeted noise spot within a second. Pets have been rebalanced: they no longer auto‑heal, and they now retain wound memory, meaning you’ll need to tend to them yourself. Food will now last its full two‑hour duration across zone transitions instead of expiring at the first load screen. Block stacks now respect what they’re standing on; rotated stacks record true support, bases with items can’t be pulled out, and floating placements are rejected. Decoration placement also got a safety check – the game confirms the spot is clear at release and all 19 planter types verify overlap before sowing.
Quality‑of‑life fixes – Gold amounts are back on every inventory screen, including backpacks, banks, plot storage and vendor listings (showing the after‑fee total). NPCs now speak one at a time within earshot, keeping crowds quiet while an individual NPC talks to you. Lot claiming is reliable on the first attempt, eliminating the race condition that sometimes ate the deed. Finally, we closed 23 bugs from the tracker, smoothing out a variety of minor issues.
These updates should make the world feel more immersive, give you clearer feedback during combat and exploration, and reduce the little annoyances that have been lingering. As always, thank you for your patience and keep the feedback coming!
