Shroud of the Avatar – August 15 Development Highlights
Conversation & NPC polish
We published 33 new conversation and NPC proposals and opened community voting on them. The language system now shows zero keyword collisions, eliminating the 12,482 broken conversations and fixing the 592 NPCs that stopped answering English players when a different language was selected. Expect smoother dialogue across all languages.
Loot and inventory upgrades
Party loot rolls have been tightened: items that were previously lost now trigger a retry, and if the handover still fails you’ll receive a clear message. The roll window also closes correctly instead of hanging. The inventory UI gained a “Container” column that tells you which bag an item lives in, plus a searchable token that looks inside closed bags. Capacity bars now fill from gold to red, and the “Looted” list got its Reset button back, opening the newest entries first and correctly counting merchant purchases and hand‑dragged loot.
Skill and combo expansions
The Third Glyph went live with 80 community‑voted proposals, introducing 58 brand‑new combos (including 16 Chaos‑focused ones). We also added the first new combo glyph since the original set: Bedrock, which plants your shield, stones you in place, and blocks all knock‑back and knock‑down effects for its duration. In parallel, we audited every skill description against actual behavior and corrected 121 mismatches—Rend now works on undead, Ranged Defense no longer claims stun resistance, and Off‑hand Defense now grants parry as intended.
Achievements get a visual boost
All 476 achievements now sport custom icons: tier metals climb each ladder, boss plates are thorned, and title achievements wear gold laurels. These icons appear in your journal and on the unlock banner, giving you a clearer sense of progress.
New character customization tools
Player catchphrases: Choose from 134 voice styles, spend cotos to turn your text into speech (moderated, free if it works), and assign them to a 12‑slot bar so nearby players can hear you. The feature is ready for deployment.
Matched armor sets: Wearing a full set in the same weight class now grants a 10 % boost to Damage Resistance. The character sheet now explains which pieces count toward the set and how each contributes to your total resistance.
Animal Lore: Added to the Taming tree, this lets you study beasts to see their stats, resistances, and weaknesses; tougher creatures require higher skill levels before they reveal information.
Obsidian Item of Unlearning: You can now set the level at which the item stops, keeping everything above that threshold, as requested by the community.
All these changes are live or pending deployment, and you should start noticing smoother conversations, clearer loot handling, richer skill combos, and fresh ways to personalize your hero today. Enjoy the improvements!
