New Features & Fixes: A Fresh Start on Chaos
Today’s update brings a wave of polish and new options to Shroud of the Avatar, with changes that improve both the journey and the tools available to players. New players can now skip ahead from the Isle of Storms tutorial at any point—just ask Anaïs—and head straight to their chosen path, making the start smoother for those eager to dive in.
Fog of war is now active on all maps except the Isle of Storms and the three starter scenes, adding a layer of discovery as you explore. A new Exploration ladder tracks how many square meters you’ve uncovered, rewarding curiosity with tangible progress.
The new What’s New page highlights the 1,551 most impactful changes in this version, ranked by importance. Players can now vote on the features they’d like to see prioritized next—your feedback shapes the game’s future.
Behind the scenes, a deep clean of 892 flag-gated NPC lines fixed 29 that were behaving backwards and 15 broken quest flags—ensuring you can’t repeat key story moments like the Save Mildryd ending twice.
For modders, Lua add-ons now have real access to game windows via Shroud.UI, including the ability to open and position windows with saved states, plus a clear “Add-on” tag so you always know what’s generating the UI.
The new client is ready for Steam rollout, with a private test branch now syncing with every chaos build ahead of the October 1 switch.
All eight languages have been updated with five weeks of new text—16,324 lines in total—and newer skills no longer default to English.
Elementals are no longer immune to their own element—fire now harms Fire Elementals, and same-element summons can no longer tank Lord-level foes effortlessly.
The Breach Lords are now live on Chaos: Eye of the Storm, Burden of Stone, Kindle, and Wellspring are active and ready to challenge you.
The Avatar’s Companion add-on and API 13 bring powerful new tools: add-ons can now include their own art, display item icons, react to combat and inventory changes, and animate or tint visuals.
Combat has been sharpened—knocking down a caster stops their spell, and heavy hits can interrupt casting mid-arc.
Finally, the main quest pass ensures the Chaos finale of Episode 1 is reachable, the Oracle Temple reflects your earned ending, early Truth, Love, and Courage tasks stay in your journal until completed, the Valhold throne room has proper journal steps, prophecy pages can’t be destroyed, and virtue scores and the account lot deed now save correctly on established characters.
