Slimes Get Nasty, Satyrs Get Smarter, and Gamepads Arrive
Big day on the creature side, and one long-awaited feature lands for anyone who prefers a controller.
Slimes: a full rework
Slimes now deal Acid damage, and cutting one sprays acid back at you. Melee hits leave you Corroded (up to 5 stacks of reduced weapon damage, briefly), though spells, arrows and durability are untouched. Great Slimes shed Ooze Droplets as they're hurt — kill one and it flows back into its parent and heals it, unless you burn it with fire. In higher-level areas, Great Slimes also leave slowing Ooze Slick patches, and the rare Gold Slime raises a Gilded Shell that only a mace or hammer can break before it burrows away with its reward. The Death Metal Slime now hits with Death damage. Slimes also linger on fresh bodies longer than other corpse eaters, so loot survives. Several new slimes were built but not yet placed in the world: Pitch Ooze, Grasping Ooze, Sump Stalker, Rubble Ooze, Blister Ooze, Prismatic Jelly, Ember Ooze, Frost Jelly, Storm Jelly and Cinder Cube.
Satyrs: a major pass
Satyrs got a sweeping overhaul. Higher-level fighters Ram Charge (step aside and their horns stick), Bounding Leap onto the most hurt player, Rearing Stomp, Hewing Cut, and a Heedless Frenzy below a fifth health — no more fleeing at level 78 and up. Sure-Footed fighters shrug off slows and roots. Archers telegraph heavy shots, spring backward when you close in, and Tartarus assassins mark their quarry. Casters' fire damage was tamed so they no longer delete players in seconds, and Tartarus satyrs now carry level-appropriate weapons. Friendly town satyrs are unchanged.
Gamepads and Steam Deck
Shroud now plays with Xbox-style pads, PlayStation controllers and the Steam Deck. Sticks move and turn, triggers plus buttons fire all ten combat bar slots, and a right-stick cursor handles windows. Options > Controls has a new Gamepad section for rebinding. On Deck, Steam's keyboard opens automatically and the UI draws slightly larger.
Quality of life and fixes
Guild leaders now see pending applications on login. Party member locations no longer blank out after zoning. Escape on an add-on key binding cancels instead of closing the window. Dropdowns and pop-ups respect Window Opacity. The Small Old Keep's entryway accepts wall decorations. New Heaven loads its sailboats and caravan again. Creatures that give up a chase now walk home instead of teleporting. Mind Lock rune timers count down properly. And the Oracle can answer about thirty more player questions.
