Dev Update: Fixes, Balance, and Player Feedback

By admin · 9/5/2026

Today’s development focus was on polishing core gameplay systems, addressing player feedback, and ensuring stability across the world of Shroud of the Avatar. A major highlight was the closure of 26 tester verification tasks in just one day—spanning roughly 23 distinct fixes. These updates touch on everything from combat mechanics to user interface, helping to refine the experience for everyone.

One key fix involved a spell that was unintentionally granting players a moment of grace during a dangerous encounter—something that shouldn’t have been possible. This adjustment ensures that the game’s challenges remain true to their design, keeping tension and risk meaningful. Additionally, a pair of items—a belt and a potion—were corrected to prevent an unintended double-shrink effect, which could have led to confusing or broken gameplay states.

On the audio side, dungeon reverb has now been applied to menu click sounds, adding a subtle but immersive layer to the world’s atmosphere. It’s a small touch, but one that helps make interactions feel more grounded in the game’s rich environments.

A new reset tool was also refined to better handle edge cases, particularly for characters with no story progression. The system now makes smarter decisions about where such characters should be placed, reducing confusion during testing and onboarding.

In the community space, three new tracker entries were added based on player reports from the nightly forum sweep. These include requests for pools and lakes on player-owned town plots, a fix for an oversized collision box on the Hedge Archway (which was blocking movement), and a consistency issue with the failure rate of tier-3 alchemy enchantments. These will be reviewed by the dev team in upcoming sprints.

Thanks to our dedicated testers and active community, the game continues to improve with every update. Keep sharing your thoughts—your feedback shapes the world.
