Where to Fish: Waters and Zones

Four waters. 845 of the 871 scenes share the same catch lists, so what you can catch depends on the water in front of you, not the name of the zone. This page says which water each zone holds, and how sure we are.

Part of the Shroud of the Avatar fishing guide. For what each bait brings up, see bait and lures.

2Fresh water zones

Each zone takes its water from the best source we have: our in-game survey add-on first, then the Oracle’s corrections in the work log, then the water implied by catch uploads, then the wiki’s scene articles. A flag carries that source’s own note. Section 8 lists every zone by source.

6Special catch lists

A few places fish from their own lists. Tropical salt water is the only home of the Cardinal and Yellow Tang. Open-PvP sea water brings up the Sailfin Tang more often. Castle Atos has its own fresh-water list. And two player towns a day are the daily bonus fishing towns, named by the criers, where the Pacu bites whatever water the town holds.

7Fishing at home: town water statues and lava pools

A player town is fresh water by default. The governor or steward can switch it with a Crown Shop statue: the Magic Gar Fetid Water Statue makes it fetid, the Magic Saltwater Tuna Statue makes it salt. Town water cannot become lava, but fishable lava pool decorations go in towns, lots, basements and player dungeons, and a Fishing Override Obelisk gives lava fishing on a lot. The obelisk refuses ordinary bait; a Gemmed Lure on a Lava Fishing Rod works.

8How we know

Every zone above, by where its water comes from, best evidence first. A scene with two waters can sit under two sources.

That covers 32 of the game’s 871 scenes, and the game client itself has confirmed 0 of them. The survey add-on reads every fishable water in a scene straight from the game, so each upload fills in more of the map. Until then, treat the wiki answers as a start, not the map.

Zone links go to the scene pages this site already has; zones without a page are listed as plain text.

Zones flagged “re-check”: the Oracle listed the wrong water for them before 15 October 2026, and we have not re-checked them since.
