What’s New in Shroud of the Avatar – September 19, 2026

By admin · 9/20/2026

We’ve got some solid, player-focused updates today that make the game smoother, more responsive, and a little more immersive. First up: stability. If a power cut happens right after a patch, you’ll no longer be stuck with a crashing game at startup—our launcher now confirms updates are safely written to disk before calling them complete.

Performance is getting a boost too. Players with 16 GB RAM or 4 GB GPUs now experience better memory handling when entering Haven Ridge, with shared scenery no longer causing crashes. Plus, startup time is shorter—emote assets, including hundreds of animations and props, now load only after you press Play, so you’re in the game faster.

We’ve also made controls more flexible: with a new checkbox, Auto-Attack off means no automatic swings at all, letting you rely entirely on your hotbar skills while still using your mouse for movement.

On the gameplay side, taming has been refined: healing creatures now gates at Collar Recovery 40, training costs are more balanced, and pets now support group-wide taunts. Town bans are also gone—governors can still restrict access, but players in a siege-claimed town can’t be permanently barred from entering.

Fishing got a visual and mechanical upgrade: the bobber is now larger and color-themed, bigger fish require a mini-game to catch (with improved mechanics), and rods can now be masterworked at the carpentry station using a six-effect pool.

The Recipe Book now loads instantly—no more half-second freeze when pressing B. We optimized the entire system to build pages once, search efficiently, and avoid loading every crafting item in the game.

Sound and visuals got a touch-up too: automatons now buzz and whir instead of speaking, and bard performances now show the audience’s Vigor recovery in real time. Finally, your backpack now scrolls smoothly with no pause—only visible rows are drawn, making it feel snappier than ever.
