Moonlight, Magic, and Moving Houses: What’s New in Shroud of the Avatar

By admin · 9/2/2026

The night sky just got a little more magical—literally. The moon is now visible in the world, rising and setting on a natural seven-hour cycle. Characters with Night Vision training now carry a Moonlight buff that shows whether the moon is up and how many minutes until it rises or sets. This isn’t just cosmetic: moonlight powers your magic, and it’s now fully integrated into the game’s rhythm.

With the moon comes new balance to stealth. Vanish now properly hides you at 90% under a dark sky and fully under moonlight—no more hidden math errors. Shadow Form also now scales with your training, giving you longer durations as you grow stronger. Meanwhile, Water Specialization now adds a group benefit: chilled targets take extra melee damage from every attacker, up to 15% total, based on your specialization points.

The Oracle’s voice has unified. After a player vote, the Ethereal Chamber now speaks for her across the entire game, replacing five different recorded voices. The old Isle of Storms greeting is gone, replaced by a single, cohesive presence.

House moving is now working—really working. After a tester pass, we fixed issues where furniture moved but houses didn’t, placement keys did nothing, and houses couldn’t be placed at all. Now, 131 of 197 houses can be moved, and every refusal gives a clear reason. Moving your home is finally a smooth experience.

Other quality-of-life updates: Douse is now properly party-only, as it always was. Catchphrases are now account-wide—buy one, use it everywhere. And 30 original songs by players are now collectible wax cylinders, streaming on demand with no extra download cost. A printed songbook with riddles to find them is now available in Ardoris.

Finally, a bug that left players stuck in action queues—caused by a rogue moonlight spell—has been fixed. The skill bar now responds correctly, and future spells won’t accidentally break the system.

All of this is live, and better than ever.
