A Big Day for Boats, New Players, and Nosy Neighbors
The November 3 work log is packed, and much of it centers on the places new adventurers cut their teeth.
New-player zones get serious attention. Battle of Solace Bridge has been reworked: combat prompts now reach the screen, Edvard escorts you across the bridge again, and Charlotte understands kind answers and remembers how you treated her. A wounded guard, a ribbon, and five more optional quests wait in the village, and the whole thing has been translated into nine languages and voiced. Blood River Outskirts received a similar pass, with fixed quest steps, chattier NPCs, signposts, four new places on the map, camp sounds, bread at the elven camp, and a one-time Sage title—plus ten new tasks covering hunting, smelting, a potion run, a bow, a cask, a silent door, a returning Naturamans, and a Seek Alberic step that guides you until you meet him. Over on the Isle of Storms, Arabella and the Oracle give clearer directions, Anaïs keeps her lessons shorter, the spirit world stays muted until the Magic Mirror, the red sunset becomes late-afternoon light, and an automaton can now be told the truth.
Boats are becoming real. Player-owned towns on the QA shard can moor a working Town Sloop or Town Rowboat and sail it out to sea, and vessels now leave a wake—foam behind the stern and spreading from the bow, scaled by speed and hull.
Combat and creatures. Hunted creatures fight back. In the Obsidian Panopticon, a group that keeps getting farmed grows faster, tougher against magic, and resistant to whatever keeps killing it, gaining a title that shows how riled it is—though every kill still pays the same. Fish now appear underwater for divers on QA: schools, reef fish, and the odd turtle, only around a diver.
Castle Atos tells stories. Most of the town now speaks for itself and gossips about the neighbors, from the market and mages to the chefs, stables, and children. The fishing supplies merchant is Zdenka and the pet merchant is Hyun-ae. Three of eight quest lines are described: Lightfoot (tracking whoever has paid for Corwin's knee salve for three years), Ink and Voice (Caspian the crier learns to read), and The Green Awning (Vesna recovers the awning she stitched for her old stall).
Smaller comforts. Add-ons can line up their elements with nameplates, including the current target's (API 57). Gyro Look lets a PlayStation controller or Steam Deck aim the camera, and gamepads can zoom. Mahjong now plays on the Desk with three computer opponents, the coach, and the full Mahjong Academy in the browser.
