What’s New in Shroud of the Avatar – September 22, 2026

By admin · 9/23/2026

Today’s update brings a wave of polish and gameplay refinements that make the world feel more alive, responsive, and intuitive. We’ve fixed long-standing issues with pet behavior—now your pets follow you smoothly without weaving or getting stuck on ladders, and they’ll even climb them! They also stay grounded during floor turbine effects and now build threat when attacking, making them true companions in combat.

Combat and skill systems got some serious love. Skill tooltips now clearly label "Fixed" and "Dynamic" cooldowns, ending confusion. The Sun spell Judgment now deals damage on its final burst instead of healing, and its beam stays active as intended. Rainbow Blast and Chaos Bomb now have unique incantations, and all three PVP arena powerups—Swiftness, Wrath, and Vigor—are finally functional.

We’ve also improved quality-of-life features: the New Player Handbook is now in character, rewritten and re-recorded, and the Deck Sharing system lets you copy and paste combat decks as text. Books now sit properly on stands, and self-reading books pause and resume correctly. Mail handling is fixed on Macs, and the chat moderator can now remove flagged messages with a clear notice.

Visual and environmental fixes are everywhere: distant lightning now fades with distance, waterfalls are flowing again, and zombies finally rise and fight with their own unique abilities. The lich archer no longer drags a cloud of smoke, and storm effects now feel more immersive with realistic thunder timing.

For town and housing players: governors can now block lot claims without banning access, and besieged towns no longer let you hide in lots—enemies follow you through doors. Housing decorations now clean up memory after zone changes, and the Community Hub is live at community.catnipgames.net, where you can browse shared themes and decks.

Finally, bosses now award achievements and trophies, and their trophies are now framed portraits with new 10- and 100-kill milestones—making collection worthwhile again. Every tamed pet family now contributes to threat, and full backpacks no longer stall on drag—sorting speed jumped from 160ms to 19ms.

All these changes make Shroud feel tighter, more consistent, and deeply rewarding. The world is alive, and every interaction now feels intentional.
