August 14 Development Update: Dungeon Master Tools, Global Siege Relief, and Combat School Deep Dives
Dungeon Master console – The DM now has direct control over trap activation, can place a line in a creature’s mouth, and can open a reward chest as soon as a player earns it. These hands‑on tools give DMs finer storytelling control inside their own dungeons.
World‑wide siege resolution – The cleared Cabalists siege has been made permanent for everyone. Once the camp is defeated, it disappears from the overworld map for all players, and the town remains siege‑free for an hour. No longer will you need to be part of the original fight to see the peace.
Pet gear bonuses – The four “tamer gear” bonuses that have been advertised since launch finally apply to your pets, letting you boost their stats directly.
Chaos Magic (The Honest Gamble) – Forty new Chaos Magic proposals have been published with live usage data, and the full Magic ring is now written. Eight defects were filed during the review, helping tighten the system.
Combat school deep dives – This week we released a series of detailed analyses for every weapon and armor school:
Polearms (The First Spear) – 30 proposals and the first weapon‑school page. A hidden rule was uncovered: polearm attacks cannot be blocked by shields.
Blades (The Blade Everyone Carries) – 34 proposals, seven defects, and two new cards already built.
Bludgeon (The Weight of the Blow) – 29 proposals, three defects, and a long‑standing 2019 bug finally answered.
Ranged (The Long Shot) – 35 proposals, six defects, with corrected school references and new craftable arrow tiers, trick arrows, and named draw tiers.
Light Armor (The Art of Not Being There) – 30 proposals backed by a month of live data and a full census of every character, plus six defects.
Shield (The Neighbor’s Shield) – 33 proposals, seven defects, and the block formula published for the first time.
Heavy Armor (The Steel Between) – 30 proposals; the Combat ring closed the same day it opened after reviewing all seven weapon and armor schools.
Tactics (School of the Soldier) – 33 tactics proposals are live with usage data, five audit defects filed, and per‑card voting now available at /blog/proposals/tactics/.
All of these updates are already live or in the pipeline, meaning you’ll start seeing new mechanics, balance tweaks, and clearer information in the game very soon. Enjoy the fresh tools and the peace after the siege!
