Shroud of the Avatar lunar rifts
Lunar rifts are circles of standing stones on Novia and the Hidden Vale that teleport you across New Britannia. As the moon phase advances — every 8 m 45 s of Earth time, through a 70-minute cycle — the active destination changes. Entering any rift takes you to the destination that is open right now; entering the rift at the active destination itself sends you to the Isle of Storms hub.
The cycle always runs in the same order, one destination per moon phase. Blood River opens on the New Moon, then Solace Bridge, Highvale, Brookside, Owl's Head at the Full Moon, Westend, Brittany Graveyard and Etceter as the moon wanes back to new. Seven of the eight rifts sit on Novia; only Owl's Head lies across the sea on the Hidden Vale.
