New Updates Live: Voice, Names, and Guild Tools Get a Boost

By admin · 9/15/2026

Today’s update brings a mix of quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and fresh features that make your journey through Shroud of the Avatar smoother and more immersive. We’ve closed 20 reported bugs, clearing up lingering issues across the game to help keep things running smoothly.

One of the most noticeable changes is in NPC interaction—about 20 NPCs who previously went silent when naming their area are now speaking up again, and the Helpful Automaton now greets you out loud in every town, adding a bit of personality to your arrivals. The game world feels a little more alive.

Guilds now have better control from their browser-based portal. You can send messages of the day, manage ranks and roles, invite offline players, and even respond to guild chat—all directly from the web. That means you can keep your guild running, even when you’re not logged in.

For players building their own towns, there’s a new convenience: you can now rename your town through the dev portal, and the change appears instantly in both the guild portal and the game client—no patch required. It’s faster, simpler, and gives you more control over your personal realm.

We’ve also improved audio delivery. Every wax cylinder song now streams on first play, so you don’t need to wait for the full file to download. Plus, 7.6 hours of cylinder-only audio have been removed from the game download, reducing file size and speeding up load times.

Player vendors now let you drag stacks into the exchange and specify how many you’d like to sell—no more guessing or manual entry. And for those six player-run towns with no travel links, we’ve added a Boat to Nearby Towns feature, connecting them to their four closest cities for easier travel.

Finally, character creation has gotten a smarter filter. New names are now checked by an AI—offensive names are blocked immediately, and questionable ones go to a new Name Review page where the team can either approve them or suggest a fairy name. This helps keep the world welcoming for everyone.

All of these changes are live now—go explore, connect, and enjoy the updated world.
